Meet Your Herbal Educators

Seraphina Capranos, DCH, RCSHom

Clinical Herbalist & Founder of The Center for Sacred Arts

Seraphina’s journey with natural medicine began with her European grandparents, who shared the traditional wisdom of herbs while gathering plants in rural Ontario. After a spinal injury in her teens, she turned to herbal and homeopathic medicine to heal herself, studying at Emerson College of Herbology, The Wise Woman Center in NY, and with healers in New Mexico. With a science background from the University of Toronto and expertise in herbal and homeopathic medicine, Seraphina brings a unique blend of academic knowledge and traditional healing to her teaching and practice. Since 2005, she has been in clinical practice and has passionately taught herbalism and homeopathy internationally, offering heart-centered, empowering classes rooted in spirit.

Kat Maier, RH (AHG)

Founder and Director of Sacred Plant Traditions

Kat has been a practicing herbalist for over 30 years and is the founder of Sacred Plant Traditions, LLC in Charlottesville, VA. She leads a Three-Year Clinical Herbalist training program and offers classes for all levels. As a Peace Corps volunteer in Chile and a trained Physician’s Assistant, she bridges biomedicine and traditional energetic systems. Kat is a founding member of Botanica Mobile Clinic and author of Energetic Herbalism, which won the 2022 Gold Medal Nautilus Award. As a passionate conservationist, Kat has also served as the past president of the board of UPS (United Plant Savers).
